Originally stemming from community work and video documentation, Reel People sought to change the lives of young disadvantaged people in my home town of Nuneaton, Warwickshire. It is the brain child of a good friend of mine James Bennett. After not seeing him for over a decade, our paths randomly crossed on a train destined for the city of Coventry. We flew over the past 10 years in a frenzied attempt to recollect each others time apart and I remember thinking, man this guy is incredible. I realised just how influential James was in our home town, a true sterling gent. He had organised numerous Graffiti, Dance and DJ festivals, ran creative workshops, charity fundraisers, the list goes on. I felt that this was a cause close to my heart and one I wanted to be involved in so I instantly offered to help out.
…It was all integrated into the logo design that I created, with the addition of the GPS coordinates of our town.
The first thing I felt would help was a logo identity that encompassed all facets of his venture and one that spoke to the roots of his movement, film. The second was for his passion for peace and love, the third his obsession with the culture of the 60’s. As a little bonus to the cause I proposed some further branding assets such as a website design for both mobile and web, plus a garment design for those who attend his events. The idea was to help the message spread and give a solid basis / professionalism for funding applications.
It needed a street feel, not be too stylised as to alienate any section of the community and be current enough to attract the young crowd.

Creating murals for the Graffiti art festival
In addition to the design work, I was invited over to create a few murals at their graffiti festivals. 3 years running. I took the opportunity to spread some ideas that I had been exposed to that year. They were educational and rooted in activism. They were artworks with a meassge. Something to hopefully stimulate conversation and spark a reaction within the community.
