The First of the Inhouse Minirigs

At Minirig we often create custom Minirig designs alongside some of the movers and shakers in the artworld. This time round, we wanted to create something a little different and at the heart of it was one of my latest personal projects titled ‘ Soundsystem’ for the Inspire Series.

Boomtown, Glastonbury, Arcadia crew parties are just a few that we frequented. I had always been driven by music, in my work and day-to-day life but here i experienced the world of crew camping, backstage passes and media crew access. The people I met along the way inspired me to create this design.

The design chosen was from the Inspire Series in the Fine art Section of my website. The reason is that the founders of Minirig came from that culture and subsequently, as an employee, i was introduced to that world.

Using translucent paints enabled me to embellish the engraved surface with a splash of colour without jeopardising the original design.

Along with my original ‘Soundsystem’ design from 2020, this Minirig entitled ‘Freeparty’ was one of our biggest sellers.

From here on in we felt that the technique of combining the engraved surface with the translucent paints really did offer something unique. We continued to collaborate with some fanstastic artists including Inkie, Penfold, DAIM and Rosie Woods.
