Sometimes a project requires an approach such as this, just think of it as investing in Index funds, instead of Shares.
A new and exciting endeavour was emmerging at Bath Spa University. The Immersive Audio Network was launching and with their first event fast approaching, they needed an identity. Listening to industry and community needs and responding to MyWorld research, Dr Ruth Farrar has established an Immersive Audio Network for Bath and Bristol-based practitioners, educators and enthusiasts. We swung into action on this one with the drafts, selection, production and export all completed within a single day.
The task at hand was to create an identity that would sit comfortably in the modern tech arena and appeal to all ages, old and young. We felt that the logo design should utilise some form of three dimentional element or appearance as a nod to the nature of immersive audio. Additionally, we wanted to integrate the ‘network’ aspect of the project through some form of interconnectivity within the logo.
In our experience projects such as this often shift and evolve over time, so the logo must fascilitate this room to breathe.
There were two main considerations for this project. The first being the early infancy of the project. In our experience projects such as this often shift and evolve over time, so the logo must facilitate this room to breathe. We achieve this by leaning more towards the abstract when drafting ideas.
The second being the diverse age range of the target demographic. When considering this we tend to avoid over stylised logos as we want to avoid potentially alienating anyone through their own association with a specific style. In these cases we often step back and look at the industry as a whole. Sometimes a project requires an approach such as this, just think of it as investing in Index funds, instead of Shares.
It quickly became obvious to us that a monogram would be a great way to embody all of the above considerations whilst still creating a memorable mark for all potential students, collaborators and more.
